Question
I HAVE A BUESCHER BARITONE (SERIAL # 127185). IT IS SILVER WITH FANCY ENGRAVING AND TRUE TONE VALVES. DO YOU HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS INSTRUMENT? PRODUCTION DATES? ANYTHING WOULD BE HELPFUL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR EXPERTISE.

Answer
It was made around 1923.  Buescher started his own independent company in as the Buescher Manufacturing Co. in 1894. Buescher had previously worked for Conn-Dupont. He changed the name in 1904 to Buescher Band Instrument Co. He sold the company in 1916, though he remained as manager and engineer. Merged with the Elkhart Band Instrument Co. in 1928. He Died in 1937.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
