Antique Musical Instruments/Carl Fischer Piano

Question
Dear Todd,
I picked up a Carl Fischer upright piano, serial number 31811. It is excellent shape (just needed to be cleaned up). My wife loves it. I paid $100 at a storage room auction in NY (no one else bid for it because it seemed to heavy to move- IT WAS!!). I would never sell it, but would like some info and value of this piano if you know.
Thank you in advance! -Tony

Answer
Tony,

Thank you for using allexperts.

What a steal! The piano was manufactured in 1878. In this current economic climate it's value isn't close to what it should be, but, it is definitely  a fine, fine piano. We once sold one to a customer who was an opera singer. Fischer piano's were manufactured by viennese craftsmen in New York City all through the golden age of pianos.
