Antique Musical Instruments/Kimbal restore?

Question
HI I also have been given a piano from an older family member
its a Kimball  I believe the serial number is 966776 my girlfriend was going to have it restored for me as a gift for christmas. Can you tell me how old my piano is and if you think its a good idea to have it restored. It's out of tune and it has allot of scratches on the wood I think grandma had a cat.

Thanks Nick

Answer
Hi,

Thank you for using allexperts.

Your piano was manufactured in 1975. The cost of the restoration would definitely surpass the piano's value in this situation, but, if there is a sentimental value to the piano, I'd advise it. Otherwise, I'd reinvest in another piano.
