QuestionQUESTION: Hello,
I have a Stultz & Bauer Upright Grand piano, which my parents inherited approximately 40 years ago. I have enjoyed playing this instrument and can honestly say that it has been lovingly cared for ever since. With the exception of the heavy crackling of the finish, it is in wonderful condition, and only a few very small chips on the ivories.
I would like to know exactly how old it is. The serial # is 28411.
Thank you.
ANSWER: Hi Judith,
Good afternoon, your piano was built in 1911 according to the serial number you gave me. Also, you may find helpful information on our Piano Information page -

QUESTION: Thank you very much for your prompt response. I'd also like to say that approximately 20 years ago, I did some research on my own, in which I found a date of manufacture that matches what you have just given me.
Also, I am interested in having it refinished, but do not want to lose the decals in the process. Thus, I am wondering whether you know of any sources where I could obtain the decals that appear on the front and underneath side of the frontal hinged lid? My only other options at this time are: 1) do not refinish and/or, 2) do not refinish the areas to which the decals are affixed.
AnswerDear Judith,
Good morning, there are decals that are made to match the original decals so when its refinished new ones can be added so it looks original. Are you thinking about refinishing it yourself or having a company professionally do it for you? We do offer refinishing work if you are interested.
