Antique Musical Instruments/Conn trumpet

Question

Conn Trumpet
I acquired a CG Conn ornate silver  plated trumpet #269411 that was in the
trash.  It is in poor condition with missing mouth piece and many dings in it.  I
have been polishing it because it is a beautiful piece of silver work.  Is this of
any interest to the music people? or is it just a novelty.  Thank you for your
expertise and time.

Answer
The horns dates to 1929.  Its value sounds like it has been compromised by the treatment it has been given.  Sometimes, with horns like that the cost of repairs exceed the value of the horn.  However, you might still get something out of it by selling it someplace like eBay.  A repairman may buy it put repairs into it and still make something on it.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
