Question
I have the above Buescher Trumpet which I bought used in 1962 or 1963. It probably needs to be refinished due to minor corrosion. Any idea when it was made and a range of its value? It also has the words "C--- Tone" engraved on the #2 Valve near the serial number. It also has "LP 215" below the other words.

Answer
It dates to 1916.  Buescher used to use the description "True-Tone", could that be what you are seeing?

I believe the model is 215, although, I haven't seen a 215 but it is consistent with the Buescher Model numbering.  I would be interested in seeing pictures if you would care to send them to Kenton@punxypa.com.

The LP means that it plays at low (modern) pitch.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
