Antique Musical Instruments/Cornet

Question
I have a cornet that I would like to have restored. It was purchased around 1929 used. It has a design and the name Buckingham Symphony inscribed on it. I have been unable to find anything more than a picture and possible year it was made(1896) online. I would love to be able to find out more specific details about it as it belonged to my grandfather. Are there any resources online or maybe you are familiar. Thanks, Matt

Answer
Does your instrument look something like this?  http://www.horn-u-copia.net/instruments/misc/Buckingham-cornet.jpg

The pictured instrument would appear to be newer than 1896 however.  The Buckingham instrument I have seen appear to be of 20th Century vintage, but I have no information on the company.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
