Antique Musical Instruments/Valve trombone by H N White

Question
I have this valve trombone that was made by H N White but it does not match the depiction in the King 1927 catalog.  On the valve body it has 8901 under the other information.  I cannot find any more information on it, can you tell me when it was made?  It is silver plated and has the tuning slide.

Answer
That horn would have been made between 1900-1905.  Lots of changes occurred between then and that 1927 catalog.  You didn't say what else was engraved on the horn, but it is possible that you have one of the horns that White imported during those years.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
