Antique Musical Instruments/Old Euphonium

Question
I came across an old Euphonium I purchased at auction years ago. It has 2 bells and 5 valves. It is engraved "C.G. Conn / Elkhart, Indiana". Any background info on this ... age, history, approx. value? Thank you for any feedback.

Answer
Ah, yes the venerable old Double Belled Euphonium. The ultimate low brass status symbol!  These horns had basically no practical use for both bells, but that didn't make any difference, they were always considered cool.  And, this one has the '4th' valve as well as the bell changing valve as well.

It is usually not difficult to find buyers for these old guys.

As far as age, you should be able to determine that by the serial number.  Check it against this list:  http://www.horn-u-copia.net/Connlist.html

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
