Antique Musical Instruments/Small King Tuba

Question
25 years ago I bought a King, by H.N. White - Cleveland Tuba at an auction.  It stands roughly 33 - 34 inches tall.  The serial number is in the 44XX range.  I'm interested in knowing anything about it.  Is there a secondary market for an item like this?  My wife doesn't believe it is an appropriate decorating item any longer.

Answer
That would be an early one, prior to 1900.

Tell your wife, that she should be happy with just a tuba.  My place is decorated with flute, clarinet, piccolo, saxophone, trombone and SOUSAPHONE lamps!

Old tubas usually will sell.  It is likely a Eb tuba, which aren't regularly used in modern bands, so it won't bring as much as a BBb would.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
