ANSWER: Alcazar was sold by the Williams Brothers between 1921-8.

Also the French company, Couesnon, also used the name as a tradename.

Most Alcazars you see are Couesnons, but yours is a Williams Brothers product.

QUESTION: where can i find out what it is worth. i tried e-bay but could not find it

Answer
No, I'm afraid that it is too obscure.  They might show up occasionally, but not often.  Here is a cornet from the same company:  http://www.horn-u-copia.net/instruments/misc/Alcazar-cornet-.jpg

You could try a company such as http://www.vintage-instruments.com, but I don't believe that it will be worth a lot.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
