Antique Musical Instruments - Shumann Grand Piano

Expert: Todd Lindeblad - 6/24/2009

Question
We own a Schumann Inverted Grand Action Assuring Repetition Improved Scale upright antique piano.  The date on the piano is 1847, Chicago, Serial number 20741.  I am uncertain if it has been restored in the past.  It has been in our possession the last 40+ years.  It was tuned and used last in 1979.  There are a few deaf keys but the board looks as though it is still in good condition.  The wood is probably mahogany.  I would like to sell this and would appreciate any advice you may have at its value.

Answer
Hi Chris,
Thank you for using allexperts. Your piano was built in 1909.  It is difficult to tell you the value with out seeing photos of it.  Its probably worth around $500.  My email is contact@lindebladpiano.com. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. You could try selling it at:
