Question
hi, my name is amber. I have had a trumpet made by hary pedler and sons and i am just curious about what year those where made and if it is worth fixing up. i found it in a old storage unit and it is not in all that great of condition. i also have a very old bottle of conn polished oil. What do you think of all this.

Answer
Harry Walter Pedler established his business in Elkhart in 1919, after previously working for Rudall, Carte, & Co., and Conn. The company started as American Manufacturing with Gronnert in 1916 but with the death of Gronnert, company was renamed Harry Pedler Co. Pedler retired from his own company in 1930. Pedler died in 1950. In 1958, Selmer purchased the Harry Pedler and Sons.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
