Antique Musical Instruments/Conn Baritone

Question
Hi Kenton,

I have my father's Conn Baritone, serial # H34560L that I would like to sell.  I believe it was made around 1915.  It is in OK condition (like a hundred year old sax) and I need help.  I found you and am starting here.

Please help.

Cassie

Answer
Well saxes aren't my area, so I probably should pass on this one, but a sax with a prefix of H should date to 1966.  (I've got a 1898 SN 3431 baritone sax, that I similarly don't know what to do with!)

Here is a list of Conn serial numbers:  http://drrick.com/conn.html

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
