Question

Wm. Knabe baby grand
We have a Wm. Knabe %26 Co. (Baltimore) baby grand piano with a serial number of 4927.  I can't find this serial number in the Bluebook of Pianos but from the PianoWorld website and other information I have found, it looks like it was made in the 1850s or 1860s, and that Wm. Knabe was a very good name in pianos, at that time.  The piano was given to my husband's mother by her grandparents, when she was a child (around 1940), but we don't know its history before that.  We've recently had it restored and we're told it's in very good condition.  Any idea if 1850-1860 is right, and/or, approximately what the piano might be worth?  We are not interested in selling it, but we might want to insure it.

1853 is the date to be exact. Manufactured in the first 5 years Knabe made pianos.  In our current economic and musical climate, we estimate the value of your piano to be at around $3,000.
