QUESTION: I have an upright piano I received from my mother. The only information I have about it is what is on the piano itself. It has GRUNEWALD on a label painted over the keys. Inside the upright portion there is a metal plate that says L GRUNEWALD CO. There is also a number stamped/carved into the wood 8854I.

The company was based in New Orleans, Louisiana and was eventually purchased by Winter Piano. My suspicions is they did not manufacture many pianos at all.
