Antique Musical Instruments/Bundy Cornet

Question

Bundy Cornet
I have what appears to be a old Cornet. It has engraving on the flared end or what may be referred to as the ball end. Not sure? The engraving runs around the diameter and not along the length of the horn.It reads BUNDY in an engraved rectangle.Below that in another rectangle it reads.H%26A SELMER Inc.ELKHART IND.Than there is some leaf type engravings above and below the print. It has three piston type valves on top and two push and lift type valves on two of the bends on the bent tubing.I'm wondering what if anything it may be worth, or should I just keep it because it looks cool? Any help would be appreciated.  Thank You

Answer
In 1927, H&A Selmer under George Bundy and Carl Greenleaf (proprietor of Conn) moved to Elkhart Ind. and began manufacturing brass instruments using a variety of trade names including Selmer USA, Bundy, Free-Tone, Marcil, Raymond, Signet and Manhattan.

If you can find a serial number on it, you might want to check that against this list:  http://www.horn-u-copia.net/serial/Buescherlist.html

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
