Question
The Engraving is as follows THE TRIUMPH "Class A" 16131 MANUFACTURED BY THE Salvationist Publishing & Supplies LTD JUDE St KINGS CROSS LONDON FACTORY St ALBANS HERTS.

Answer
In 1901 the SA opened the factory at St. Albans. This factory was called the Campfield Musical Instrument Works.

Offerings for the student market (youth bands) included models including: Herald, Jubilee, Reliance, Endurance (French import) and Congress. Limited production models included: Special Congress, Festival, Fanfare and Deluxe. The primary student model was the "Gold Medal" which became the Triumph. The Triumphonic models were added in 1914, and continued in production until the factory closed.

The St. Albans factory was in operation until 1972, when it was sold to Boosey and Hawkes. (Last instrument in 1972 was Serial# 34283).

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
