Antique Musical Instruments/worth of upright piano
Expert: Todd Lindeblad - 3/11/2010
QuestionQUESTION: I have a beautiful antique mahogany upright piano that I would like to know the value of. My husband says the wood alone is worth over $1000(he makes furniture, so he knows), so we'll probably just keep in instead of selling it, but I am curious of the year and estimated value. The serial number is 24985. Thanks so much!
ANSWER: Hi,
Thank you for using allexperts.
What brand is it?

QUESTION: The brand is Werlein, which is based in New Orleans, I believe. I read that you told one woman that many people made pianos like hers into desks - that might happen to ours as well!! Thanks so much for your input, Todd. I've checked out your website and bookmarked it for the future. What I really want is an old restored Steinway grand, like my husband grew up with.
AnswerHi,
Thank you for using allexperts.
The piano was manufactured in 1904. I'd estimate the value at about $1,500.
