Expert: Todd Lindeblad - 4/20/2010

from another online appraiser I asked the age of my Ivers & Ponds upright.  I was told that my Ivers & Ponds of Boston #56670 was made in 1915.  I have read your March 2010 appraisal of piano #47301 and it said it was made in 1909.  Do you agree with the manufacture date of my piano #56670?  That would mean the company produced 9360 pianos in 6 years -- is that correct?  My last question is on the case construction of my piano -- there's a significantly strong wood part on the underside of my piano's case which runs its width, but not its depth.  I mean it doesn't go castor to castor back to front, just one side to the other.  Because it doesn't, it baffles movers who try to use small dollies which do not support the castors. Could you suggest an online site or a book which diagrams and explains the construction of an upright, hopefully naming that particular piece and its function.  thank you.  judy
