Antique Musical Instruments/Courtois alto trombone

Question
Kenton,
I am Co-Principal Trombone with the Pittsburgh Symphony and would be very interested in contacting whoever it was with the Courtois alto trombone.  If it were playable I would like to buy it. Do you know how I might contact that person?
I appreciate your help!
Thank you,
Rebecca Cherian

Answer
Rebecca,

Unfortunately, unless the person posts personal information in their post, I have no information about them.  I believe that the question posed was on a antique pre 1900 instrument.  Courtois tenors of that period, and maybe it would follow that their altos would be similar, were cylindrical, narrow  bore instruments with a very bright penetrating sound.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
