Question
QUESTION: Trying to find out some information on an old coronet, appears to be silver/chrome, inscribed "Band Inst. Co. Elkhart Ind, USA  #19264"
Seems to be in pretty good condition, trying to find out age and quality of horn.

ANSWER: I think there must be more to the inscription than what you listed.

QUESTION: Couldn't find any other text inscription, but it did have an Elk head etched on the bell

Answer
Well it might be a Getzon brand Elkhorn, this is an example:  http://www.horn-u-copia.net/instruments/Getzen/Elkhorn-cornet-27875.jpg

Or, it might be  Buescher brand Elkhart, which this is an exmaple:  http://www.horn-u-copia.net/instruments/Buescher/Buescher-Cornet-57C.jpg

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
