Antique Musical Instruments/Ivers & Pond upright

Question

I have an I&P upright dark wood with the number 11312 on the tuning plate above "Boston & Ivers Co., Boston"; tuning board patent date of September 25, 1888; several other interior marks show patent dates between 1887 and '88.  There is also the number 11095 in the wood case underneath the keyboard.  It is in what I think is very sound condition inside and out, but needs a good cleaning. Lovely floral carvings and nice legs; original pedals perfectly intact. Can you tell me the year it was built, anything about the likely wood, its value? I'm thinking maybe early 20th century?

Answer
Hi,

Thank you for using allexperts.

Your piano was manufactured in 1892, based on the serial number. The wood is likely a mahogany or oak wood but it is difficult to tell just by looking. In our current economic and musical climate, we estimate the value of your piano to be at around $500-1000. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,
