Antique Musical Instruments/schumman piano
Expert: Todd Lindeblad - 8/23/2010
QuestionMy daughter is looking at investing in a 1910 schumann baby grand. We live in a very rural area so it is going to be hard to get an appraisal. She went to this gentleman who has done our tuning for years and he has shown/priced to her a the above piano for $9999.00. He has completely restored the piano. He is 73 years old and has restored pianos for years. It is just a lot of money to invest without knowing if it is an actual investment or a rip-off. We do trust this man--but I don't trust anyone that much. It is walnut and absolutely beautiful. BUT we know nothing about piano value! What should we do to get a general value for this piano?
AnswerHi,
Thank you for using allexperts.
For that kind of money you can easily invest in better brand pianos for that much money. We ourselves offer brand like Steinway, Mason (smaller console) or Sohmer some even for around the same price fully restored. If you were going to invest it is better to invest in one of the following said brand. You can check out our inventory at
