Antique Musical Instruments/value of trombone

Question
My son recently purchased a trombone and we had it cleaned. The people that cleaned it said we should find out the value of it. It has the original case, slide, mouth piece and the bell piece/everything. It is tarnished in areas, has a few dings, great sound, and seems to have copper in its composition.

The slide has these numbers on it: 28760
The bell section has this written on it:
The Regent Ohio Band Instrustment Co.
Cleveland, OH

Answer
In 1936, Foster A. Reynolds, who also established the Reynolds Band Instrument Company, established the Ohio Band Instrument Company. Producing instruments in the same factory as F.A. Reynolds horns, Ohio Band exclusively sold to dealers in the school band market.  The Regent was Ohio Bands primary instrument line.

Ohio Band offered student instrument dealers a full catalog of Regent-brand brass and woodwind instruments, and band accessories, including stands, mutes, mouthpieces, reeds, etc.

Ohio Band and the Regent brand appear to have been discontinued sometime after Scherl & Roth bought F.A. Reynolds Co. in 1946.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
