Hello Kenton,

My mother is in the storage industry. She came across an Antique Hackley Piano ,34530 is the number i found located on the left side of the instrument in a diaganol line.

She is interested in either selling it or restoring it. We would like to know the year of the intrument and how much It could be worth. It is in poor condition

Answer
Pianos are not my area, but I'll make an exception and provide some information on this piano as I know something about it.  My mother has one of them in her home.  The Hackley was made by the Chase-Hackley company of Muskegon, MI.  They built pianos of various grades, and the Hackley was their basic piano, and they made a lot of them.  They went out of business in 1930.  The company had a strong reputation for making quality instruments.   The piano dates to around the turn of the century.  It would be worth a few hundred dollars.

Our Hackley is a very good player with a lot of volume.

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
