Antique Musical Instruments/Higham cornet

Question
I have been given old cornet made by this istrument maker, but it appears to be incomplete. There appears to be a tube/extension missing, where the mouthpiece fits. I think it would be about 100-to-120mm long. I have tried to obtain one, without success. can you advise and/or supply one. The instrument is un-playable without it. Thanking you in anticipation,

Answer
It seems like the bits for these old cornets disappear faster than the horns themselves.  Since that system hasn't been used on cornets for over 100 years, the bit is not an item that is available from suppliers.  If you can't find a used one, you will then need to have one custom made.  If your local repairman isn't able to make one, contact me at Kenton@punxypa.com and I'll help you find a maker.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
