Antique Musical Instruments/Salvation Army Euphonium

Question
My aunt found an antique Euphonium at her place and I am helping her sell it, but we don't know much about it. It also has 3 valves and has flower engraved around the stamp. The stamp on the top reads " Class A 10264; manufactured  by the Salvation Army International head quarters 79 and 81 Fortess Road London." It has a few small dents and is missing the mouth piece.Any information would be great, thanks!

Answer
Salvation Army has a long history of making musical instruments.  The lack of a mouthpiece is not a big deal.   In 1896, the factory moved to 79, 81 Fortess Rd., London, but only remained there until 1901.

You know, it is exceedingly difficult to be both an expert and a mind reader.  I don't know how I am supposed to predict what specifics people may want to know when they don't express them.

And, the name of this service is Ask the Experts, and though I have considerable information about vintage brass instruments, I wouldn't label myself as an Expert.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
