Question
I have an old trumpet with the following engraved om the bell; "Made by the Boston Musical Instrument Manufy" and the serial number is; 8221. Can you determine the date of manufacture and any additional info re this instrument?
1884 would be my best estimate.
Boston Musical Instrument Manufactory was formed in 1869 from the joining of craftsmen from the Graves & Co. and E. G. Wright & Co. - the top shelf makers during the Civil War By 1873, the principals were: Henry Esbach, Louis Hartman and W.G. Reed. The firm produced high quality brass instruments.
