Antique Musical Instruments/Wurlitzer Bros. Alto Horn

Question
Wurlitzer Alto Horn
Wurlitzer Alto Horn
Just recently it came to my possession this old Wurlitzer Bros. Cincinnati Eb Alto Horn. It is in fairly good condition, no major dents, all the valves are working. I checked on Horn-u-copia web site but there is no information about this horn except a picture and a name. So my question is if you have some information about this horn and where could I get an estimate? There is nothing I could find on ebay. I assume it is not a very common horn. Anything would help. Thank you.

Answer
Actually, in their day, alto horns were as common as oh, say baritones, or tubas.  But eventually they got pushed out of the band and replaced by French horns.  Other than in historical bands, it is rare to see them in use today.  But there are a lot of them still out there sitting on shelves, in attics, etc.  Wurlitzer would have imported this one and put their logo on it. There is not much of a market for it.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
