Antique Musical Instruments/vintage mandolin

Question
We have a vintage montgomery ward mandolin from the late 1800's to early 1900's, we aren't sure.  It was my husband's grandfather's.  We have no other information on it.  What would be the estimated value?

Answer
Hi,

Someone more familiar with old Mandolins will know more, but my knowledge of them is basic, I played it once during a concert to play the song Rocky Top.
As from what I can see the Montgomery Ward's were your standard mandolin that gain popularity before losing it to Gibson.

I think it's worth about $200 dollars, this is totally ball parked. I think someone more fluent in them would know a better price.

If you are looking at getting it restored, I think that would be a good idea, if either of you play? You can keep it, but if you don't I wouldn't give it away, keep it and later it'll be worth way more.

Thanks and sorry I couldn't be more helpful,
Glenn
