Antique Musical Instruments/trombone Hawkes

hello, I received a silver plated Trombone with beautiful engraving on the bell; It mentiones: L.P   H.Chapman   Artists Perfected & underneath,  HAWKES & SON    makers Denman Street Picadilly Circus London.W...... Also has a serial number on the bell 51757. I would appreciate any possible information wrt the instrument. Kind regards, Tania

Sorry, thought I had already answered this.  Hawkes made insrument starting in 1876, and in 1930 he merged with Boosey.

This one dates to around 1925.  LP indicates that it is pitched at low pitch (modern pitch) I am not familiar with Chapman nor the model Artists Perfected.  I've not seen them before.

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at
