Antique Musical Instruments/ANTIQUE SAX

Question
I have an old alto saxophone. On the bell there is a large engraving. It says,
                  BOUSCHER
                 ARISTOCRAT
                  made in
                ELKHART-IND.
                  U. S. A.
It has a few minor dents, and pearl keys. The instrument did not have a case when i recieved it. For not having a case, the condition is good.It is a dark, rich golden color, and is brass.Would you know how old this instrument is, and how much it is worth?

Answer
I would need the serial number to know how old it is.

The Buescher instruments were good quality and well respected.  The market is pretty much determined by eBay anymore, so you may want to watch completed auctions on ebay for similar instruments to get an idea of its value.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
