Antique Musical Instruments/Carl Fischer Cornet

Question
I'm trying to get a handle on the date of manufacture of an old silver plated cornet that has been in my family for years.  The make is Carl Fischer model RELIABLE serial number 9444.
Would you have any idea on the age or date range of manufacture?  Thanks for your time and efforts.

Answer
Well, I don't have any specific information on dating your instrument as no records have been found to connect Fischer serial numbers with dates of . . . well sale, i guess.  Most of the Fischer horns were imported and the Fischer logo was 'stencil'ed on.

If you are interested, the information I have collected on Fischer instruments can be seen at:  http://www.horn-u-copia.net/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=Fischer

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
