Question
I have a Car Fischer coronet serial number 35344.  It has engraved on it National
(above) Carl Fisher (above) New York, NY.  I got it from my grandfather along
with a Martin sax we've dated to early 1925.  Any info you have on this horn
would be appreciated.

Answer
Carl Fischer established his business in New York in 1872.  With many of the instrument makers, we can determine date of manufacture from the serial number, but there is no serial number list for Fischer as far as I am aware.

Senator, American, Superior, Reliable, Artist, National American were all model names that Fischer used.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
