Question
Well I have seen some of the other questions about these trombones but I seem to have a slightly different type. This one was made in Austria and also came with two Pitch slides.I was wondering if the country it was imported from might give a hint as to its age.It does not have "made in". It only says Austria on it.

Answer
For most of their history in instruments sales, Fischer was a dealer and did not make the instruments themselves, though in later years they did buy York).  The two pitch slides would indicate that it was probably made around the beginning of the the 20th Century.  And, yes, since it does say the country of origin but does not say "Made in", would indicate that it was made between 1891 - 1923.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
