Antique Musical Instruments/Cavalier Tenor Sax

Question
I have a Cavalier Tenor Sax that I bought used in 1971. It was old when I bought it and was wondering about how old it might be and if it was worth restoring. I read in one of your earlier answers that Cavalier was a 2nd 2nd line of Conn. The  printing on the back near the thumb hook reads:
Patd Sept 14, 1915
1153489
T
O333
L

Anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Answer
I'm not sure about woodwinds, as they aren't really my area.   My experience with Cavaliers is that though they don't seem to have the value of some of the other brands, they nevertheless are good playing instruments, that maybe should have a better reputation.

The patent refers to the method of putting key seats on the instrument.

I'm not sure exactly when Conn started the Cavalier line, but I believe it was in the 20s.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
