Antique Musical Instruments/Cavalier Trumbone

Question
I picked up this slide trombone at a flee market and want to learn what I can about it. I was hoping you could help!
It is a Cavalier with a couple of different #'s on it.
On the horn section there are matching '024' #'s and on the slide part it is '01467'on both pieces.
Any info. on this regarding approx age and how to figure out what range it is and the 'bore' would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Shawn.

Answer
Cavalier was a secondary brand of the Pan American brand which was a secondary brand of Conn.  The Cav's started appearing in the 30s, and were intended to be an economical amateur instrument.  However, the ones that I have had contact were all pretty darn good playing instruments.

I don't trust either the Pan American nor the Conn number lists for Cavaliers.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
