Question
I have a trumpet with the inscription "Elkhart Built by Buescher"  Elkhart, Ind,
USA (379 is on the middle valve) ser# 68615.  Any info into the background
and/or value of this instrument would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Answer
Buescher started his own company in as the Buescher Manufacturing Co. in 1894, after previously workintg for Conn-Dupont.  Changed the name in 1904 to Buescher Band Instrument Co.  He sold the company in 1916, though he remained as manager and engineer.

Buescher merged with the Elkhart Band Instrument Co. in 1928.  Buescher  used Elkhart Band Inst as a trademark for a second line of instruments.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
