Hello,

Thank you for your quick response.  Ebay is no help, I tried them first.  The trombone is a Studio made prior to 1952 so it is an original FE Olds and made in Los Angeles before he moved to Fullerton.  It has the silver bell and the rest brass.  The serial number is 47463.

We purchased an FE Olds trombone today at a garage sale.  My husband plays and our son plays his trombone.  This trombone is obviously of way higher quality as the sound is absolutely beautiful.  The serial number is 47463 so it was made between 1964-1965.  What would this be valued at after restoration?  Just curious, I am not going to fix it to sell, but IF it is worth enough I may want to insure it.

Olds made a number of models from student levels to professional.  I wouldn't presume to estimate its value, but you might want to look over the horn and see if you can find the model name, and then review completed auctions on eBay, and thereby get an estimate of its value.

I believe that most home insurance will cover the instrument as long as they are not used professionally.
