Question
I have just found an antique trombone with the writing A. Fuellard engraved on the bell? I am wondering if you knew any type of information on this trombone. It is a really old trombone!

Answer
A. Feuillard is a tradename used by the Progressive Music Corp.

The Progressive Musical Instrument Co. was in business from 1920 to 1950 in New york. They commissioned the manufacture of instruments of low and moderate price and used trade names of Perfacktone, American Artist, 20th Century, A. Feuillard, Professional, American Victory, P.X. Laube, Jean Buisson, G.L. Otterell. "The use of contrived brand names render the origin of their instruments difficult to trace." (Langwill)

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
