Question
There is a Grenaelier Flugelhorn listed on Ebay, and I cannot find any information about it. The seller says it is older, but there are not even any references to Grenaelier anywhere on the net...except for obscure WWII german military units...can you help?

Answer
I'm guessing that it is really "Grenadier".  Not that that helps much.  I have several pictures of Grenadier instruments, but I've not found any company history.

It is probably a tradename that has been used by a dealer for instruments that were made by someone else and then stenciled.

However, the Keefer company used the name as a model, however, their instruments also have their name on them.  And, The Gretsch company used the name.  So, it is possibly one of theirs.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
