Question
I have a Harwood Professional Cornet / Trumpet.  Engraved on it is  "The Perfected Harwood Professional - American Made Genuine Harwood Trade Mark - warranted for 10 years - J. W, Jenkins Sons Music Co. - Sole Agents - K.C. MO U.S.A."

I read your answer to someone regarding their trombone and was wondering if you could tell me anything about my instrument.. value etc..

Respectfully,

Tom

Answer
Tom, I don't attempt to do evaluations on this site.

J.W.Jenkins Co. began in Kansas City, MO later named  J.W. Jenkins Sons.  (John Woodward Jenkins died in 1890)

In the 20's and 30's they imported Bohland and Fuchs instruments which the put under the Trade Name of Harwood.

Jenkins also sold a stencil made by Conn (the 90B) in the 1930s.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
