Question
I JUST FOUND A HARRY PEDLER TRIUMPH AMERICAN TRIUMPH AT A YARD SALE, ITS IN GOOD SHAPE, EXCEPT THE BELL HAS A FEW DINKS, NOT SURE IF THAT WAS CAUSED BY THE STAND OR THE INSERATION OF THE BELLS.
QUESTION; IS THERE A SERIAL NUMBER AND WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
HOW CAN I FOUND OUT HOW OLD THIS IS?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

Answer
Hi Lonnie,

Even if you could locate a serial number on it (and it is probably on the second valve casing) it won't do much good as there is no serial number list that I know of for Pedler.

They started using the Pedler name in 1916, In 1934, it became Harry Pedler and Sons, And, I think the American Triumph name was attached about then as well.  Selmer purchased the Pedler plant in 1958.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
