Antique Musical Instruments/Jean Cartier professional clarinet

Question
I have been given a Jean Cartier Bb 'professional' clarinet. It is 'good, polished and ready.

Is there a place I can look on the instrument to see a date to establish its worth?

It has an excellent rich tone.

Answer
I'm sorry, I'm not going to be much help. I'm more knowledgeable in brass than woodwinds.

But, I did check in my reference books on historical instruments and Cartier is not listed.  I presume that means that they have not been in the business that long.

I also checked for a serial numbers listing for the company and was not successful at that either.

Sorry

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
