Antique Musical Instruments/King Cleveland Sax

Question
I have an old Cleveland saxophone given to me by my mother who played it in high school.  I am told that it was bought used and my mother is now 44 years old.  The serial number is c 217035 and the bell is engraved with "CLEVELAND" in large print and "KING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS EASTLAKE OHIO" below.  I would greatly appreciate any information you can give me including approximate value if possible.

Answer
"and my mother is now 44 years old"  You better be careful how you phrase that, you might not get any Thanksgiving Turkey !  <g>  And, besides, at 44, she is still a young thing.

The sax on the other hand is from the mid '60s.  So, you can call it old if you want, nobody will care.  (but again be careful cause the horn and your mom are about the same age.)

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
