Antique Musical Instruments/Lyon and healy Coronet

Question
I have a Lyon and Healy Coronet that I inherited from my grandfather. I know some say "Own Make" on the bell, but this one appears to say something different.  The best I can make out is either Am'n or Em'n obviously not much help.  I believe the serial number on it is 12353.  I would like to know if you can tell me a rough age of this instrument and any other information you might have on it.

Answer
That is Am'n Make = American Make.

There is no existing serial number list for Lyon and Healy that we know of.  So, dating it is going to have to be based on characteristics of the horn.

Does your look like this one?

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
