Antique Musical Instruments/Martin Trombone

Question
I have a silver martin trombone with the serial #9031.  I have not been able to find a Martin Trombone Serial # list to date the trombone.  Can you approximate the date or point me to a site that might help.  The trombone is marked "The Martin Band Instrument Company, Elkhart Indiana" and is silver with a flower design etched onto the bell.  Thanks for your help.

Answer
I know of no list that goes back that far, but it probably is close to 1906.

The horn probably has some value.  Martin was a good name. Because they are so fragile, vintage Trombone often don't do real well in value, unless it can be demonstrated that they are in good playing condition.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
