Question
"Silver" finish and "gold" inside of bell.  Bell has "Indiana".  "Indiana Band Inst."
There is an Indian head engraved on the bell.  Any value to the instrument?
My kin might like to know.  I still blow air through the horn about once a day
for theraputic reasons.  Heard of a therapist that was treating people with
ephasyma.  The people were given harmonicas as part of their therapy.  It
seemed to help.

Answer
The Martin Company started the Indiana Band Instrument company but allowed them to operate independently until 1942, when they converted it into their student line.  It should a decent intermediate level instrument.  It may be of better quality than what you might be able to sell it for.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
