Question
I HAVE A CORONET THAT WAS MADE IN THE LATE 18TH
CENTURY. THE BRAND NAME IS NOBLET. I CANNOT FIND ANY INFORMATION ON NOBLET BRASS INSTRUMENTS. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL THEY MAINLY PRODUCE WOODWINDS.

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHERE I COULD FIND OUT WHAT I HAVE AND WHAT IT MAY BE WORTH?

Answer
Hi Tom,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I had been out of town.

Noblet is a woodwind making family.  Is there any other information on the instrument, a insignia, other words?

How were you able to determine that it was made in the late 18th century?

I have not heard of Noblet making brass instruments, nor of any other company making instruments and using Noblet as a tradename.  One other possibility may be that the name was fraudulently used.

Expertise

Please note: My area is BRASS instruments, not other wind, string or percussion instruments. I will provide information on antique, obscure and out of production BRASS instruments. 1) Please don't ask for evaluations, I'll not provide them on this site. 2) I am often asked very similar questions, so I'd invite you to first check on Horn-u-Copia.net. Much of the information I have garnered about this topic, I have posted on this WEB site.

Experience

I perform in several historical bands, have informally researched the area, repair brass instruments, and operate a Forum dedicated to the topic at http://horn-u-copia.net
